LADY OF THE CASTLE WINS ANOTHER AWARD!

Lady of the Castle has been published for only a month but already it has won multiple awards

I’m thrilled to share that Lady of the Castle has won first place in Historical Fiction at the Firebird Book Awards!

Book two of the Nicola de la Haye series follows Nicola through marriage, power struggles, and the long shadow of the Third Crusade, as she fights to hold Lincoln Castle in a world that expects a woman to step aside.

When I set out to tell the story of the woman Sharon Bennett Connolly names “the woman who saved England,” I hoped readers would come to love her as much as I do.

In only a month since publication, it’s already won several awards and reached #1 bestseller status on Amazon.

To see the second book recognised like this, after Lady of Lincoln also won many awards, really is humbling. But Nicola deserves to be recognised!

Rachel Elwiss Joyce

Rachel Elwiss Joyce, Author of Historical Fiction.

Exploring power, loyalty, and love in turbulent medieval England.

Rachel came to novel writing later in life, but she has always been passionate about history, storytelling, and the forgotten voices of women. She writes meticulously researched, immersive historical fiction that brings overlooked heroines into the light.

She started inventing tales about medieval women living in castles when she was just six years old—and never stopped. But when she discovered the extraordinary story of Nicola de la Haye, the first female sheriff, who defended Lincoln Castle from a French invasion and became known as ‘the woman who saved England’, Rachel knew she had found a heroine worth telling the world about.

Lady of Lincoln is her debut novel, the first book in her Nicola de la Haye Series, with sequels to follow.
