✍️ You’ve Been Asking. I’ve Been Writing. Here’s Where Things Stand.

"When's the next book out?" and "What else have you got up your sleeve?" are the two questions landing in my inbox most often right now — so I've created this page to keep you in the loop. And, if I'm honest, to keep myself accountable. 😄

✍️ What's Rachel Writing?

Lady of the CastleBook 2 in the Nicola de la Haye series

The draft is done, and the first chapter has been shortlisted for an Historical Novel Society Award! 🥳

Now comes the part no one tells you about: edits, beta readers, formatting, cover design, book descriptions, and lining up advance reviewers (more on that in a moment). It's a long road from first draft to bookshop, but I'm aiming for September 2026, possibly earlier, possibly later (only if there’s an unforeseen glitch, though). Watch this space.

👉 Want to be an ‘advance reviewer’, or join my ‘Street Team’ for the launch? Get in touch — I'd love to hear from you!

Lady of EnglandBook 3 in the Nicola de la Haye series

This one is alive and breathing on my screen right now. It’s on a third draft, and I’m just tightening some of the key moments (Magna Carta, the French invasion, the Battle of Lincoln—just a few minor points in history…!).

I'll keep working on this until I have beta reader comments back on Lady of the Castle.

Target publication for Lady of England: Early 2027.

And Beyond…

I’m currently researching a novel set in another medieval city. Based on real events, and real people, I’m deep in maps, biographies, medieval chronicles and the opinions of modern historians. I’ll keep researching but won’t be able to put finger to keyboard until the Nicola de la Haye books are done

I also have a Saxon England story waiting in the wings, and another tale set deep in the fourteenth century, with more besides, though I'm not giving away the settings just yet – trust me, they're worth waiting for! 😉

And if you haven’t read it yet, why not download your FREE copy of Eleanor’s Revenge, a novella based on Eleanor of Aquitaine’s niece - another medieval woman who overcame tragedy in what was an amazing life.

Keep checking back, and I'll update this page as things develop. The story is always moving forwards.
