Another Accolade for LADY OF LINCOLN!

LADY OF LINCOLN RECEIVES ANOTHER ACCOLADE

Besides winning a gold medal and ‘Book of the Year’ from the Coffee Pot Book Club, a ‘Notable Book’ Award from BlueInk Review (their highest accolade), and Five Stars from Reader’s Favorite, LADY OF LINCOLN has now been shortlisted for the Chaucer Award by the Chanticleer International Book Awards!.

The Chanticleer Chaucer Award recognises outstanding historical fiction that combines meticulous research with compelling storytelling, and it’s a real honour for Lady of Lincoln to be shortlisted among such a strong field of novels.

Set during the turbulent rebellion against Henry II, Lady of Lincoln tells the true-inspired story of Nicola de la Haye, the indomitable woman who would one day be remembered as the woman who saved England. To see her story recognised by an award dedicated to excellence in historical fiction is deeply meaningful.

This shortlist nod is a testament not only to the countless hours of research poured into the medieval world of twelfth-century England, but also to the power of historical fiction to recover and re-centre women whose courage and leadership were written out of the record for centuries.

Thank you to Chanticleer International Book Awards for this honour, and to every reader who has supported Lady of Lincoln so far. I’m incredibly proud to see Nicola standing shoulder-to-shoulder with such remarkable historical voices.

Rachel Elwiss Joyce

Rachel Elwiss Joyce, Author of Historical Fiction.

Exploring power, loyalty, and love in turbulent medieval England.

Rachel came to novel writing later in life, but she has always been passionate about history, storytelling, and the forgotten voices of women. She writes meticulously researched, immersive historical fiction that brings overlooked heroines into the light.

She started inventing tales about medieval women living in castles when she was just six years old—and never stopped. But when she discovered the extraordinary story of Nicola de la Haye, the first female sheriff, who defended Lincoln Castle from a French invasion and became known as ‘the woman who saved England’, Rachel knew she had found a heroine worth telling the world about.

Lady of Lincoln is her debut novel, the first book in her Nicola de la Haye Series, with sequels to follow.
